Cobblestone typically purchase and sell in the same currency. In the event of cross-border trade where this is a GBP/EUR exposure this is accordingly hedged.
Much of our trading is physical. Both the power and the gas desk have operational staff to ensure all contracts are executed, logistics arranged and deals closed. Compliance completes the checks and makes all regulatory submissions.
Operating with EFET & Exchange contracts, accepted market standard agreements ensuring legal clarity, addressing credit risk, default situations enabling Cobblestone to operate under established legal precedents.
Cobblestone complete rigourous on boarding processes with their suppliers who are renowned entities and undertakes the same procedures for it’s clients. It ensures it deals with reputable counterparties at all times.
Cobblestone operate a stringent IT policy with several layers of security for prevention, it also ensures regular training is provided to all of our employees.
As the markets Cobblestone operate in are all regulated, any changes are notified and adapted to with immediate effect and adaptations to the trading strategies made to ensure no breaches occur. The Company is experienced in all regulatory reporting requirements.

From the beginnings of Cobblestone Energy in London – UK, Alan has led its initial entry and scaling in the short-term power markets and re-location to Dubai. He continues to oversee the companies trading activities and strategy.
Alan is an experienced analyst and trader, having begun his career with Natwest and Gazprom. He is a British citizen and has a degree in Economics from the University of Bath.
Simon built Cobblestone’s trading capability into a fully staffed 24/7 operation able to support the balancing needs of the intraday power markets. He now leads our short term trading activities on the curve.
Simon is a British citizen and has degrees in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College and education from the University of Cambridge.
The Cross Commodity Trading desk operates under Andrej’s leadership, with a focus on expanding our presence in new markets and adding new commodities to our portfolio, such as emissions trading.
Andrej is German and holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Hamburg, with a focus on mathematics and statistics.
Luca built the gas trading department from scratch, growing it into a pan-European platform covering spot markets and the forward curve. He leads traders and analysts with a strong focus on analytics and disciplined commercial execution.
Luca is Italian and holds two degrees in Energy Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, combining a strong academic foundation with over 10 years of experience in energy markets.
